Apart from his independent work with metagoldstern, Heiko Hagemann has always been interested in free art and can present a series of projects that visually implement what language no longer can.
Among various projects, he has launched the “Flags of Truce” this year, which take up on the touchy subject “war and refugees” in an expressive and philosophical way. He has designed a flag consisting of two flags: one is white and stands for armistice, the other is black and stands for grief. A flag for those in the world who have lost their lives, who lost their homes, and those who are now spread all over the world as a lively symbol for our inhumanity. A powerful project, which he would like to take into the world. Several large flags shall be placed at various points of great suffering and misery. The project is less about the amount of implementation but rather about its size, similar to a memorial, so that the flag can move calmly in the wind. It functions as a symbol of what all people need – peace and love. In a world where most of the money is earned with war and death, a visual ambassador of peace is needed.
